In
May of 2000, Samuel and his family brought 'Claine's gift back to us.
"Brought
back" - not in the sense that you return an unwanted present to Wal-Mart,
but in the sense that you wear a special sweater to show how much it is enjoyed
and just how proud you are of it.
Sam,
Steven, Sue, and Steve came down to Arkansas for a few days and spent Sam's
birthday with us. We held a party at our church so everyone could join us in
celebrating Sam's first year and praising God for all He had done in our
families' lives.
We spent several days together - sharing stories about
our lives and families, showing off our hometown, the kids playing, and visiting
'Claine's "flowers" - just enjoying our time with this new part of our
"family" that God blessed us with.
Before they returned north to Michigan, we got a chance
to hear "our" heart still at work - almost ten months after we last
heard it - a wondrous testament to the miracle of organ donation and
transplantation.
